Private Ricefield Cabana – Peaceful Retreat

A private cabana in the peaceful countryside near Tangalle, for couples looking for nature, privacy and a more personal place to stay away from the busier tourist areas.

Green rice fields begin just beyond the cabana. Warm timber, the high triangular roof and the open interior give the space its own character and keep the surrounding nature close throughout your stay.

The air-conditioned bedroom is a quiet place to return to after a day at the beach or exploring Sri Lanka’s south coast. On the upper level, the open net bed is one of our favourite places in the cabana. Lie back with a book, listen to the birds, look across the rice fields or simply do nothing for a while.

The private open-air bathroom is part of the experience too. Shower under the open sky, surrounded by tropical greenery while still completely in your own space. The water is naturally cool and unheated — especially refreshing in Sri Lanka’s warm climate.

For your first coffee in the morning, a cup of tea or a cold drink during the day, there is a small area with a refrigerator, freezer, kettle and drinking water. Coffee and tea are also provided.

Reliable Starlink Wi-Fi keeps you connected whenever you need it — whether you want to plan your next day, get some work done or simply stay online.

Food is an important part of NJ House. On request, our family can prepare breakfast and a home-cooked Sri Lankan dinner for you. Everything is freshly prepared with curries, side dishes and local flavours, and for many of our guests the food becomes one of the highlights of their stay.

The cabana is fully independent and entirely yours during your stay. It has its own entrance and gives you plenty of privacy. At the same time, we live nearby and are always happy to help if you need us.

Tangalle and the surrounding beaches are around 10–15 minutes away by tuk-tuk or scooter. A small lake is about a two-minute walk away. Around the cabana, you will find rice fields, palms and the quieter, rural side of Tangalle.

We are happy to arrange a tuk-tuk or scooter, share our personal recommendations for the area, or organise breakfast and dinner. Laundry service can also be arranged on request.

Free parking is available directly on the property.

The cabana is designed for two guests. If you are travelling with a baby, we can provide a travel cot on request.
